My name is Cynthia T. I have not written my testimony before, so here goes. I grew up in a small town in Northeast Missouri with loving parents and grandparents who lived close by. My mother was responsible for getting her children to church and we attended a small Baptist church. I was involved in Sunday School, children’s Christmas programs, VBS and back then GA’s. In the summer of 1970, I went to church camp not far from our town and accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior and was baptized September 6, 1970. We moved from Missouri to Iowa soon after and although we attended another Baptist church. We were not as involved and missed more Sundays than we attended. After graduating High School, I worked and attended college but started missing more Sundays. After college, I moved back to Missouri for a job opportunity, but did not feel the need to find a church home. I decided, “I’m a Christian, and believe in Jesus as my Savior, so don’t really need a church home.” Wrong!

I came to Kansas in 1990, since by this time most of my family was living here. My sister was attending a Baptist church here regularly so I started to attend, too. Looking back, it was totally God’s plan to get me here to Kansas City. My family went through illnesses, a loss of a brother and I don’t know how I could have gone through any of these events without Jesus. As time has gone on, there were more illnesses not only of my family but myself as well. There have been job changes, former church issues, loss of my father and mother, but Jesus has been there every step of the way!!

One of my favorite verses is Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”
