But all that changed one fateful night when he had too much to drink. Matthew’s decision led to the loss of a man who was a husband and father. He was incarcerated for 55 months in state prison but received an uncommon miracle, forgiveness from the victim’s son.
After being the cause of such tragedy, Matthew learned a powerful truth and received a tremendous gift, the gift of forgiveness. Matthew says, “Forgiveness is cutting the ties of bitterness, resentment, and unforgiveness in our own lives. When we forgive someone, you’re setting yourself free from the root of bitterness.”
