I had a pretty typical relationship with Christ. I am a very strong Christian but that only became possible because of the trials and circumstances that God brought me through. Here is my story:
I accepted Christ as my savior at a young age, about 6 yrs old. My parents prayed with me and showed me how to ask Jesus into my heart. After that, I pretty much lived a typical Christian life. I went to church, read my bible casually, and prayed here and there, just following the motions and not really living out my faith. When I arrived in my 7th grade year, that’s when my life went out of control. I could not conquer my sexual lusts and made some really poor choices that hurt a lot of people. At that moment in my life, I had abandoned my faith and was drowning in temptation and lust to satisfy my sin. This went on till the middle of 8th grade. By the middle of 8th grade, I realized that I had forgotten about someone, a person that I had abandoned in the darkest time of my life, it was my savior Jesus. I realized that I had been walking down a dark path and I did not want to go down it anymore. I recommitted my life to Christ and started getting back on track. I started reading my Bible more; I started praying more; I started seeking him and his wisdom. I asked God to help me with my lusts and temptations and that is just what he did. Now I feel God working in my life in many ways. I feel like a new person! 2 Corinthians 5:17 says,” Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, and behold, new things have come!” I feel like that verse has been an example of how I came back to Christ and recommitted my life to him. Even though now I am on the right path, I still keep tripping on stumbling blocks that tend to get in my way. I worry about a lot of things, but that means that I am not trusting where God is leading me, so I have been working on trusting him more. Jeremiah 29:11 says,” For I know the plans that I have for you,” says the Lord,” Plans to prosper you, and not to harm you, but to give you a hope and a future.” That has been my life verse and I have applied it to my life. When I trust God more, my faith grows; and when my faith grows, I feel God’s presence everywhere I go. God has been working in my life in so many ways. Even though I keep thinking about all the terrible sins that I have committed, I know that God has forgiven even the worst of them. I realize that if I had not have gone through those trials, then I would not be where I am now. I thank God for giving me a second chance to live my life for him. With the lessons that God has taught me over the years, I have had the pleasure of teaching others, who are struggling with the things that I struggled with, helping them see what God is doing in their lives, and to help them overcome their obstacles. There are so many amazing stories that have shown God drastically working in others lives, and I hope that this story helps, whoever is reading this, see that God can use them for great purposes. God loves all of us and wants us to reconnect with him. He wants you to come and lay down your burdens at the cross so that he can help you. Come back to the One who gave everything just for you. God Bless!
